El 22 de mayo a las 19:30 horas en el Centro Asturiano de Madrid (Calle Farmacia, 2, 28004, Madrid), el Marqués de Casa Real y Director del Colegio Heráldico de España y las Indias presentó la conferencia titulada Japón, un imperio y dinastía milenaria. La Conferencia fue patrocinada por la Academia Asturiana de Heráldica y Genealogía, la Fundación Conde de Monte Alea, el Colegio Heráldico de España y las Indias y el Real Cuerpo de la Nobleza de Asturias.

The Foundation provided a grant of 1,000 USD to the Sunu Askan Foundation to help them purchase two computers to be delivered to the Matar Diop primary school in the city of Medina, Dakar, Senegal.

The Foundation initiated conversations with representatives of other foundations in Senegal working to improve rural education in the country. Mrs. Josiane Fofana, from Senegal and currently working in the US, was appointed Director of Senegal operations on behalf of The Count of Monte Alea Foundation, Inc. Mrs. Fofana holds a BS degree in biochemistry from Brandeis University and is currently a research associate in the pharmaceutical sector. She has extensive experience in fundraising for rural education in Africa and serves as the co-founder and president of Sunu Askan, Inc., an NGO that sponsors rural education in Senegal. Mr. Alejandro Perez de Buerres, general secretary for The Count of Monte Alea Foundation, Inc, was admitted as a knight of the Royal Corps of the Asturian Nobility in a ceremony held at the church of San Tirso el Real in Oviedo, Spain, last October 15. The Corps of the Asturian Nobility is the only European Nobiliary Corporation to have had Pope Francis as its Spiritual Protector.

Dr. Bernardo Perez de Buerres Ramirez was appointed delegate in Boston, Massachusetts, for the Royal Cavalry Armory of La Habana (Real Maestranza de Caballeria de La Habana), originally founded in 1709 and approved by Royal decree of H.M. Philip V King of Spain on 26 August 1713.

The book was edited and co-sponsored by the Colegio Heraldico de España y las Indias, The Academia Asturiana de Heraldica y Genealogia, and The Count of Monte Alea Foundation, Inc.

The Count of Monte Alea Foundation, Inc. was granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The special consultative status permitted the Foundation to send representatives to meetings of the ECOSOC and its subordinate bodies, to make statements, and to establish cooperative working relations with departments, programs, and agents specialized in specific themes of the United Nations.

The Spanish Federation of Heraldry, Genealogy and Historical Sciences (Federación Española de Genealogía, Heráldica y Ciencias Históricas) announced the concession of the National Award for Patronage of Historical Studies for the year 2012-2013 to The Count of Monte Alea Foundation, Inc. The recognition served as an extra motivation to continue supporting initiatives to preserve our historical heritage.

The Foundation entered into an agreement with the San Jose school in Chincha Alta, Peru, to sponsor the education of children from low-income families. The Foundation's scholarships provided children with access to elementary education for at least three years.

Representatives of the Royal Corps of the Asturian Nobility, the Royal Military Estamento of the Principality of Gerona, and the City of Viana were received at the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid by HRH, Don Felipe de Borbon, Prince of Asturias. On the occasion, Prince Felipe was presented with a copy of the book “Los Principados y Titulos del Heredero de la Corona. En el V centenario de la Reunificación de España (1512-2012).” The book was partially sponsored by a grant from The Count of Monte Alea Foundation, Inc., to the Academia Asturiana de Heraldica y Genealogia.

The Foundation’s president, Dr. Bernardo Perez de Buerres Ramirez, was awarded the Sacra Militar Constantinian Order of Saint George in a ceremony held at the Church of Saint Gines in Madrid. He was also admitted to the degree of Knight of Grace. The insignias were bestowed by the order’s Spanish Delegate, Dr. Alfonso de Ceballos-Escalera y Gila, Marquis de la Floresta, and Viscount de Ayala.

Marie-Noelle Del Alamo was appointed to the Foundation’s Board of Advisors. Her main focus was on rural education in Peru, where she served as Director of Peru Operations. Ms. Del Alamo is a Belgian citizen and has worked and lived in Latin America and France. She is also trilingual (English, French, and Spanish) and received a bachelor’s degree from the French Business School and a master’s in educational psychology from Harvard University. Ms. Del Alamo’s contacts in Peru enabled her to support a wide range of organizations in Lima and the surrounding provinces. More recently, she founded Learn in Peace, Inc., and worked in collaboration with the Peruvian agency DEVIDA to find solutions against domestic violence for families with young children.

Dr. Bernardo Perez de Buerres Ramirez, the Foundation's founder and president, gave a seminar entitled “Origins and Evolution of Spanish Heraldry,” organized by the Spanish Cultural Association of Boston and held at the Real Colegio Complutense in Cambridge, MA. The cocktail event was attended by members of Boston's Spanish community.
